Bro. Simon Zimmerman, resident at Masonic Village was awarded a 60 year service emblem by the Columbia Masonic Lodge. He was also recognized for his “uncommon commitment” to the Lodge for his contribution to the Golden Book of Remembrance. Presenting these awards to Bro. Simon were W. M. Shughart, Ken Brandt P. M and Bob Hobday also a resident at Masonic Village.

The 2013 Open Election of Officers was held at the Lodges in the First Masonic District with great work being done by the Officers and continued support from the Brethren. On one occasion noted here in photos the D.D.G.M. paid a visit to Lodge No 43 on December 11th at the Masonic Center of Lancaster County. As was the case for all Lodge’s there was a great turnout of the members, visitors, families, and received well by the general public. Congratulations to the Officers and Members of Lodge 43 for being one of only 6 Lodges in the Pennsylvania to win the Right Worshipful Grand masters Award for the year 2013. Also Congratulations to Columbia Lodge No. 286 and Ashara-Casiphia Lodge No. 551 For also winning the Grand Master’s Award this year.

Lodge’s of the First Masonic District participated in the Memorial Day Parade in Mount Joy on Saturday, May 25. As part of the First Masonic District’s parade unit, many brothers marched with the Right Worshipful Grand Master and the District Deputy Grand Master. Despite the cooler-than-normal weather, the crowd saw Lodge Officers from the nine Lodges in the First Masonic District and members help represent Pennsylvania freemasonry in this long standing, small town patriotic community parade. At the same Officers Workshop held in January 2013, Brothers Larry A. Derr, P.M., D.D.G.M., and Raymond P. Greiner, P.M. Principal of The First Masonic School of Instruction posed for a photo. The First Masonic District holds this workshop every year on the second Saturday in January and is open to all Master Masons who wish to attend. The Board of Governors of the First masonic District of Pennsylvania met at the Masonic Center of Lancaster County on January 12, 2013. This photo was done at the Officers Workshop.
