Pennsylvania Masonic Youth Foundation Scholarships

Scholarships Presented 

At a recent meeting, Larry A. Derr, District Deputy Grand Master of the First Masonic District of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania, presented five scholarships to four deserving students residing in Lancaster County.  Alexandra E. Agesen, Manheim, receive a $1,500.00 Lawrence Dietrich Memorial Scholarship; Joseph Dougherty, Lititz, received a $2,000.00 Grand Lodge Higher Education Scholarship; Dominick Falcon, Lancaster, received a $3,000.00 A. Ralph Taylor Scholarship; and Sarah Sellers, Elizabethtown, received a $3,000.00 Grand Master’s Scholarship and a $750.00 Frank and Mary Stillman Leadership Scholarship.  Each of these scholarships is from the Pennsylvania Masonic Youth Foundation, which is a charitable extension of the Grand Lodge of Masons in Pennsylvania, and which presented 61 scholarships totaling $196,000 this year to young people with a Masonic relative, or who are members of a Masonic-sponsored youth group. 

Miss Ageson was eligible as a member of Bethel No. 7 Manheim, International Order of Job’s Daughters and a granddaughter of William Agesen, a member of Mount Zion Lodge No. 774.  She will be attending Gettysburg College, as a Junior with a major in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and a minor in Writing.  She graduated from Manheim Central High School in 2014. 

Mr. Dougherty was eligible as a member of Elizabethtown Chapter, Order of DeMolay, and as a member of Lodge No. 43, which meets in Lancaster.  He will be attending Berklee College of Music, as a Freshman with a major in Music Composition Production and Engineering and a minor in Music Business.  He graduated from Warwick High School in 2013. 

Mr. Falcon was eligible as a grandson of Nathaniel Gilchrist, a member of Lodge No. 43.  He will be attending Lehigh University, as a Sophomore with a major in Biochemistry.  He graduated from Conestoga Valley High School in 2015. 

Miss Sellers was eligible as a member of Bethel 15 Elizabethtown, International Order of Job’s Daughters and as a daughter of Lewis R. Sellers, Jr., a member of Abraham C. Treichler Lodge No. 682, Elizabethtown.  She will be attending University of Pittsburgh, as a Freshman with a major in French and a minor in Arabic and Business.  She graduated from Elizabethtown Area High School in 2016. 

Mr. Derr serves as the District Deputy Grand Master of the Lodges that meet in Columbia, Elizabethtown, Ephrata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Manheim, Millersville and Mount Joy.
