Saturday August 5th, 2017 Ashara-Casiphia Lodge No. 551 held their 24th Annual Ox Roast at the Donegal Masonic Center in Mount Joy, Pa. This event is a two day event for those participating in the preparation for the event. 500 lbs of beef, 125 dozen ears of fresh sweet corn, 600 new potatoes, and all the sides (barbeque sauce, horseradish, butter, apple sauce, etc.) were prepared and packages for either take out or eat in meals. This year the Lodge was completely sold out of tickets for the event, which was a total 600 tickets. This event benefits the permanent Charity fund for the Lodge. To date Ashara-Casiphia Lodge No. 551 has raised over $ 78,000.00 dollars for their permanent charity fund by sponsoring this event. The event is well known by many who come to partake of the great food. Pictured below are some of the participants of the event and the pit where the Ox is prepared.
