Lodge’s of the First Masonic District participated in the Memorial Day Parade in Mount Joy on Saturday, May 25. As part of the First Masonic District’s parade unit, many brothers marched with the Right Worshipful Grand Master and the District Deputy Grand Master. Despite the cooler-than-normal weather, the crowd saw Lodge Officers from the nine Lodges in the First Masonic District and members help represent Pennsylvania freemasonry in this long standing, small town patriotic community parade. Peter Null recognized for half century of Masonic service. At a recent meeting of Columbia Lodge, Larry Derr, District Deputy Grand Master of Pennsylvania recognized Null for his 50 years in Freemasonry by presenting a 50 year emblem of gold to mark this occasion from the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania.
Null served Columbia Lodge as Worshipful Master in 1970 and 1997 and continues today as a Lodge Trustee.
Very active in other Masonic bodies, he is a member of the Lancaster Lodge of Perfection serving as Secretary for the last 13 years, member of Harrisburg Consistory, and in 2001 was coroneted a 33° Sovereign Grand Inspectors General.
His other Masonic activities include membership in the Lancaster Royal Arch Chapter, Lancaster Commandery, First Capital York Rite College, Red Cross of Constantine, High Twelve and Zembo Shrine.
Null and his wife Marlene reside in Mountville.

During the Official Visit, of the District Deputy Grand Master, of the 1st Masonic District, to the Ephrata Lodge No. 665, on February 12, 2013 the RWGM and the living PDDGM’s of the 1st Masonic District were in attendance. This has been the goal of the current DDGM since taking office. What a night for the history of the 1st Masonic District and the DDGM’s that served it.
From left to right is the current DDGM, Larry A. Derr, who took office in 2009, PDDGM, Bro. Charles A. Achey Jr., who served from 1972 to 1977, PDDGM, Bro. Robert S. Conway, who served from 2000 to 2008, and RWGM and PDDGM, Bro. Jay W. Smith, who served from 1992 to 1999.
It was both an honor and pleasure to have these special Brothers in attendance at this meeting.
The First Masonic District of PA held its January School of Instruction Meeting at the Masonic Center of Lancaster County where Business of The Lodge was exemplified by Lamberton Lodge No. 476. Attendance by the members of the nine Masonic Lodges in our District was good and it was a great start to the new year. Thanks to Paul A. Sutcliffe, Jr., P.M. for taking the photos.
At the same Officers Workshop held in January 2013, Brothers Larry A. Derr, P.M., D.D.G.M., and Raymond P. Greiner, P.M. Principal of The First Masonic School of Instruction posed for a photo. The First Masonic District holds this workshop every year on the second Saturday in January and is open to all Master Masons who wish to attend. The Board of Governors of the First masonic District of Pennsylvania met at the Masonic Center of Lancaster County on January 12, 2013. This photo was done at the Officers Workshop.
